Here at Met Radio, we’re closing out 2025 with a new round of year-end favourites! To cap off the year, our volunteers and staff are sharing their personal top-ten lists, highlighting the music, media, and gems that defined the past twelve months. New lists to explore and enjoy will be dropping on the Met Radio website every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this December!
Hello out there! Luca Capone here, host of the Night Shift, and I am very excited to share this special list featuring my favourite 15 albums of 2025!
Yeah, yeah I know I’ve done 40 in the past, and then 30, and now 15. But the way I look at it, this tighter collection of albums represents a slowly simmered reduction of highly concentrated sonic umami. That makes sense, right? WHERE MY FOOD NERDS AT!!!
I realized long ago that ranking albums, music, and art in a ‘best of’ format makes zero sense at all. So, whether it was a 20-song album or a 4-song EP, these are the releases that made me fantasize about wearing a Chewbacca mask and tossing fish sauce-filled balloons at innocent passersby at Oshawa Centre, just to shake their world up for a bit and give them a wild story to tell (probably a waste of fish sauce, to be honest).
My hope for 2026 is that everyone ditches their Spotify or Tidal accounts, and I pray folks dive heavily into community radio because it is the last realm where truly wonderful independent music and locally-focused stories featuring voices from marginalised communities can thrive.
As always, I wish you and yours a happy holiday season, and a very Happy New Year!
