Here at Met Radio, we’re closing out 2025 with a new round of year-end favourites! To cap off the year, our volunteers and staff are sharing their personal top-ten lists, highlighting the music, media, and gems that defined the past twelve months. New lists to explore and enjoy will be dropping on the Met Radio website every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this December!
Hi! I’m Grace, and I’m a co-op student in grade 11 here at Met Radio! I’m so excited to share my first top 10 list with you. This may be one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever written, but what can I say? I’m a high schooler, and I find this funny. This is my top 10 best memes of 2025.
Here are the rules: Only memes that were created and became popular in 2025, no memes that were created in another year. It counts down from 10 to 1, which is my favourite on the list. Finally, don’t be confused if you don’t know all of the memes on this list. But if you do, congratulations, we are both way too chronically online. Let’s get started!
10. 6-7
Okay, you knew this one was coming. I’m putting this at 10 because it’s definitely not the funniest one. I mean, there’s not even reasoning behind the meme. However, I can’t write a top 10 memes of 2025 list and NOT include 67. That would be like writing the top 10 greatest mob movies of all time and not including The Godfather. Unthinkable. If you don’t know what this one means, please just look it up; it’s very hard to explain something that has no explanation.
9. Niche/Tuff baby
This one is at the higher side of the list because though it’s funny, it’s just not mentioned as much as the other memes that I’ve seen. The funniest part of this meme is that people have started using AI to make the baby say different things and have the same mannerisms as other popular memes.
8. MM flip it around
This one is fairly recent, and it all started with Michelle Yeoh’s Wicked press interviews. People online started noticing that in almost every interview, she has repeated the same line, accompanied by hand gestures. Her famous epiphany is “Madame Morrible, MM, flip it around, Wicked Witch, (WW)!” There is even a music remix and dance to go along with it that has become very popular.
7. Zendeya Hat Theory
This is by far the most bizarre meme on this list. The Zendeya hat theory all started with her outfit at a Teen Vogue party in 2014. This included the infamous giant black hat. This monstrously oversized hat sparked speculation on the internet that she abducted her boyfriend, Tom Holland, and was keeping him under the hat. After she wore a similarly strange hat at the 2025 MET Gala, people started tying the two hats together, wondering what exactly is going on with Zendeya and her obscure hats.
6. Dear Basketball
This meme is so funny and has lasted for almost the entire year. It features the “Dear Basketball” sound and displays videos of funny sports failures. My favourite one is from Matt.xtra that shows every player on the court hilariously falling into a mound as they scramble for the ball.
5. Coldplay CEO
I’m pretty sure almost everyone knows this meme. This started with a regular video showing Chris Martin and the band of Coldplay, doing their normal kiss cam where they sing about people in the audience. When they panned to a particular couple, they started frantically hiding from the camera, leading Chris Martin to comment, “Either they’re having an affair, or they’re just very shy.” This absolutely exploded online, and it turns out that the couple both work at tech company Astronomer and were in fact having an affair. This meme even spread to baseball and hockey games, which would feature a “Coldplay cam,” and if it lands on you, you have to imitate the couple by hiding from the camera.
4. I left my home
This is another recent meme that started with an actual military song. This song became widely popular online because of its funny lyrics and catchy chants. People have been using this song for a lot of their videos and have created a strange dance to go along with it. I also will admit that this song was stuck in my head for weeks.
3. Ash Travino
Ash Trevino is an online personality who became popular at the start of the year. She started going viral from her live streams, where she would constantly create new meme-worthy moments. It would take me hundreds of paragraphs to explain all of the Ash Trevino lore, just know that she is seen as a very annoying yet ironically hilarious live streamer whose clips always go viral. Even though she’s very controversial for some of her actions, she makes me miss January 2025.
2. Cynthia Erivo
This one is another fairly recent meme. Though there are many Cynthia Erivo memes circulating the internet as of right now, my absolute favourite ongoing meme is of her protecting Ariana Grande. At a wicked for good red carpet, a fan ran up to Ariana Grande, startling her. Before the security could even react, Cynthia was at her side, arms around her, giving a death stare towards the fan. Since then, people have been teasing that if they get too close to Ariana Grande, then Cynthia will come and get them. This includes funny pictures of Cynthia lurking in the shadows.
1. Kirkifying/ We are Charlie Kirk
This one can be very confusing out of context, but I’m fairly certain that most people know about it by now. The Charlie Kirk memes are hilarious and have been circulating on the internet for a couple of months. For those who don’t know, Charlie Kirk was an extremely right-wing podcaster who was always flamed for his inhumane and dated opinions. “Kirkyfying, which started recently, is when people take a picture of Charlie Kirk’s face and put it on top of someone else’s. There’s really no deep meaning to this one; it’s just funny. Even funnier is the “We are Charlie Kirk” song. This song is an AI-generated gospel-sounding song that was made as a tribute to Charlie Krirk after he was shot. However, it’s now being used as a meme because of its ridiculous lyrics, acting as if he invented everything ever made. I always laugh at these.
