A Canadian-original play about queer history over the last five decades is bringing intergenerational parts of the queer community together.
The play, “Long Live the Rainbow” produced by Elderberry Productions, is written by retired civil servant and Canadian playwright Robbie Norquay following a rather unlikely meet-cute in the waiting room of an electroshock aversion therapy clinic. When the good Catholic boy meets street hooker— it’s love at first sight.
Norquay shares what compelled to come out of a retirement to write such a thing and why queer and trans rights are on the minds of Canadians and at the forefront of the political sphere at this moment, alongside other cast members Molly McKenzie and Mike Smith.
The play hits the Alumnae Theatre May 16 – May 25.
