Come work at Met Radio this summer! We’re looking for three motivated radio lovers to join our staff this summer.

Met Radio is hiring three positions to assist in programming at our station this summer. 

 

Youth Outreach Coordinator, June 3 – August 30 (35 hours per week)

The Youth Outreach Coordinator will design and run radio-related events and training with a focus on engaging children and youth. This programming will be created for youth in our community and workshop series may be presented to partner community groups who are interested. Specific tasks include: community outreach, coordinating with community partners, running workshops and volunteer training. Radio Producer – Community events, June 3 – August 30 (35 hours per week)

Our radio producer will liaise with the station’s surrounding community and create radio that reflects it. They will take a lead on covering festivals in Toronto with a focus on local music and arts; bringing the sounds of Toronto to the airwaves.They will work with volunteers where appropriate to help create this programming. Specific tasks include: community interviews, hosting radio programming, live event broadcasts/online streams, organizing accreditation for volunteers, community features, and sharing station news on our website and social media. Music Librarian, June 3 – August 30 (35 hours per week)

The music librarian will manage our station’s ever growing music library and provide support to our programmers in terms of music they are playing as well as assisting them in setting up artist interviews. Tasks include: music ingest and review, compiling and submitting weekly charts, corresponding with artists and labels, booking artist interviews as requested by programmers, creating music programming, sharing new music with staff and volunteers at the station, assisting in live music recordings at the station, reaching out to local artists about opportunities at Met Radio. Requirements:

All positions are part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program with funding provided by Service Canada. To be considered, applicants must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Be legally entitled to work according to relevant provincial legislation and regulations (international students on a work/study permit are not eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs Program).

 

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a volunteer or employee in community media or other not-for-profit environments
  • Media production experience and familiarity with audio editing
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication skills
  • Comfortable using social media
  • Outgoing, friendly and reliable
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

 

Contract Terms:
Hours as described for each position at a rate of $17.75 per hour. These are in-person positions. Applicants must be available to work in-person including 1-2 evenings per week between the hours of 10AM and 7PM.
