Met Radio, Toronto Metropolitan University’s Campus and Community radio station is hiring a number of student staff positions to join our team for the 2025/2026 academic year. These part-time positions are ideal for students and are designed to be worked as hybrid positions with some hours in person at the station and some from home.

Volunteer Coordinator

Volunteers are the heart of our station. Our Volunteer Coordinator works directly with volunteers to provide training and find opportunities for individuals at the station. 

Duties

  • Coordinate training sessions and provide feedback to new and returning volunteers in the methods, techniques, and ethics of radio broadcasting
  • Maintain volunteer database and hour logs
  • Assist in coordinating station events and fundraisers, including the annual general volunteer meeting and board rep election
  • Coordinate outreach to campus and community groups
  • Create our weekly volunteer newsletter
  • Provide additional support and training for station volunteers
  • Specialized skills for this position include: experience recruiting and working with volunteers, ability to give thoughtful and constructive feedback, comfortable creating and managing spreadsheets and databases, excellent communication

Digital Editor

Bring your knowledge of web content to the Met Radio team! Our Digital Editor will oversee content on our website, assist us with our podcast feeds and more over the school year. 

Duties

  • Edit and assist volunteers with online content
  • Update podcast feeds and Airtable accounts
  • Assist in updating content on iTunes, Spotify or other branded platforms
  • Assist in posting content to website and social media 
  • Check feeds to platforms like RadioPlayer, iHeart and TuneIn
  • Create programming at the station
  • Specialized skills for this position include: experience in multimedia environment, audio production, proficient user of Database and Spreadsheet applications, excellent writing and editing skills

Music Librarian

Attention music lovers: we’re looking for a Music Librarian to give us a hand in tending to our growing music library. 

Duties

  • Assist with the ingest of new albums and proper archiving of digital files in our library
  • Encourage volunteers to explore and highlight new music
  • Complete weekly charts, tracking and label relations
  • Actively seek out new music from within the community
  • Specialized skills for this position include: in-depth knowledge of local music in Toronto, experience coordinating and/or marketing artists or events, audio production, proficient user of Database and Spreadsheet applications, strong attention to detail

Social Media Coordinator

Help us get the word out about the great programming we have at Met Radio! Our Social Media Coordinator will manage our social media accounts and assist with outreach in the community. During the fall, they’ll help us execute our annual Fund Drive.

Duties

  • Monitor Met Radio’s social media channels and post to them consistently, sharing the work of our volunteers
  • Develop and execute social media strategy 
  • Assist with the development and execution of our annual Fund Drive 
  • Implement social media engagement strategies with partners
  • Forge relationships with community partners and assist with community partner broadcasts
  • Assist in organizing and executing in-person events like tabling
  • Create on-air programming
  • Specialized skills for this position include: experience with social media campaigns, fundraising experience and/or familiarity with community outreach

News Coordinator

Take the lead of our news team and ensure that our award-winning news program airs weekly. 

  • Recruit and coordinate submissions from volunteers for our weekly news program The Final Word
  • Assist in the recording and scheduling of interviews 
  • Provide feedback to volunteers on their work at the station 
  • Assist with show production and chase producing as needed 
  • Log programs and/or assist and oversee volunteers in the process 
  • Assist the Local Journalist with editing and audio production as needed
  • Specialized skills for this position include: high level production skills, sound editorial judgment, ability to teach new skills to volunteers

Collective Coordinator

Assist in building and maintaining our collective-based programs. This includes providing support for Morning Mixtape, The Intersection, The Final Word, Met 30 and more.

Duties

  • Handle pre scheduling and logging of Morning Mixtape
  • Assist volunteers creating radio
  • Support staff in recruiting for collectives 
  • Support production of programming for collectives 
  • Produce on-air programming
  • Support fundraising efforts
  • Special skills for this position include: a high level of competence in production, outreach skills, ability to teach others new skills

Production Coordinator

Calling all audio engineers: we’re looking for a Production Coordinator to engineer recording and mixing sessions with artists, and help us produce other content.

Duties

  • Work with music director to schedule recording sessions and coordinate volunteers
  • Engineer in-studio pre-recorded and/or live sessions with local artists
  • Mix recordings into completed episodes
  • Train volunteers prior to and during session recordings to build our audio engineering team
  • Produce other special programming for holidays, events, and on a case-by-case basis
  • Provide technical and logistical support for station events 
  • Work with technical director to maintain the station’s equipment library 
  • Specialized skills for this position include: experience with recording and mixing music, experience coordinating a team, radio production skills, experience working with audio equipment.

Sales and Outreach Coordinator

We’re looking for a skilled salesperson looking to hone their craft. You’ll be an integral part of making our day to day sponsorship program and annual fund drive a success. 

Duties

  • Pitch program sponsorships, event sponsorships, digital marketing and ad spots to potential clients and maintain relationships with existing clients.
  • Identify local businesses that would make for mutually beneficial partnerships with the station.
  • Work with our Program Director to ensure that all ads meet editorial and production standards and are placed properly. 
  • Play a role in assisting with Met Radio’s annual fund drive: reaching out to businesses regarding prizes and co-marketing deals and work with other staff to promote the fund drive.
  • Build community relationships and support other staff who are doing similar outreach and assist with special programming.
  • Oversee the roll-out of digital giveaways, ad scheduling (in accordance with Program Director), etc.
  • Specialized skills for this position include: exceptional ability to reach out to potential clients and partners, excellent writing skills, professional demeanor with clients

Terms: 

These are paid positions during the academic year and spring from September~May for approximately 12-15 hours per week at a rate of $18.75 an hour.  All staff will be required to work at least 2 shifts in person (6-8 hours per week) including at least one closing shift ending at 8PM.

Send us a link to your website, a google doc with links copied into it, a google drive folder or any combination of the aforementioned just be sure the sharing is open so our hiring committee can take a look. For the Sales, Social and Digital positions, you may want to share some digital work that you’ve written/edited/created/designed.
