Electric Island Civic Holiday 2017 Recap
Shuffling all day, sunshine or rain we are here to party.

My friend, Philip Wiseman (the perfect festival pal) and I walked in like House and Techno princes to cover the event.

It was our first experience attending this year’s Electric Island Civic Day and we can describe it in one word: necessary.

Sometimes, we all need an escape, which is exactly what Electric Island is. Our goal was to capture a few performances and the cultural vibe. We felt something so profound and real: a family celebrating life together.

There was non-stop shuffling, laughter and connections. The joy of partying and building friendships – with new ones beginning right at the festival. There were young people from outside Canada, some rolled in with a group of friends while many arrived on their own and left with a huge family.

All the DJs in the lineup were ready to throw down! Some highlights from the show include sets by Bulgaria’s KiNK and Russia’s Nina Kraviz’s closing performance.

The creators of Electric Island gave DJs, both local and international, an opportunity to create music and share their passions. The overall vibe and music was enjoyable! The picnic’s upcoming September 3 and 4 shows will feature more amazing lineups, so it is something to look forward to!
