Umm… I think I would rather be unemployed.
I initially watched this film in theatres, but gave it another try after its release on Amazon Prime, and it was just as fun as the first time. If you’re not into horror, but love a plot twist, this film is for you.
Jonny Campbell’s horror-comedy film, Cold Storage, is an adaptation of the 2019 novel by David Koepp. Starring Joe Keery, Georgina Campbell, and Liam Neeson, it follows the story of two self-storage employees, Travis Meacham/Teacake (Keery) and Naomi Williams (Campbell), along with Robert Quinn (Neeson) a retired bioterror operative and NASA specialist. Together, they set out for a night shift, very unprepared for what’s to come.
The story keeps you wondering if the characters are going to survive, while adding jokes to intense situations and creating an entertaining tone throughout the film. Although it follows many of the cliches and the gory aspects of zombie movies, there are some unique twists that this film provides. If you love a movie that makes you jump out of your seat, this film is also for you.
The cast performed to their reputation, and Joe Keery had perfect comedic timing, making the story even more entertaining. Nesson’s contribution works great with the two young actors, adding the perfect mix of seriousness and humour. The pace of the film is also well done, not prolonging storylines that wouldn’t make sense.
The film knows exactly what it’s supposed to be. It doesn’t become confusing, leaving audiences wondering what they just watched.
I would recommend giving Cold Storage a try, even if horror isn’t normally your go-to genre. The combination of humor, suspense, and character chemistry makes the film enjoyable and worth the watch.
