As the second term starts up for the university, and the snow has covered the campus, future TMU students will soon be visiting during our twice a year open house. The winter open house, which will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, promises to be another demonstration of how the campus can be vibrant even during the coldest season. Enthusiastic students, staff, and professors will all be available to welcome the new students and their families to the TMU school spirit.
The fall open house, which was on November 8, 2025, was lucky to have excellent weather, with warm sunshine bathing the campus grounds, buildings, and facilities. Everything and everyone looked marvelous, as TMU invited future students to see and experience what they might expect and enjoy as students.
In case you missed the views of the campus without the snow covering, here are some photos from the fall open house. Go TMU Bold!
The Vari Engineering building, low to the ground and extending down almost to the entire block, provides some of the lecture space and research facilities for TMU’s engineering students. The TMU Faculty of Engineering is one of the largest in Canada, and its aerospace engineering is especially popular, with more than 1000 students studying in that specialty.
Across the street is the Daphne Cockwell Health Science Complex. It is as tall as the engineering building! The first eight floors are filled with offices and lecture spaces, and a fully equipped simulation lab for its nursing students. The additional nine floors above are student residence dormitory rooms, as well as a rooftop garden.

The TMU Image Centre provides a gallery space and research archives for the photographic arts. It was first opened in 2011, and has provided a well respected and received series of exhibitions for the TMU community and general public. Of special note is that they hold and preserve legendary photographer Bernice Abbott’s photographic archives.

The newest iconic building on Yonge Street is the Levy Student Centre. The building’s design won the Architect’s Award in 2016 for its innovative approach to providing study space andhas also achieved Leeds Gold certification.

Not only do TMU students study hard, but they play hard: at the Mattamy Athletic Centre, located in the legendary Maple Leaf Gardens. The awesome feeling upon entering this arena inspires even non-skaters to try and get some ice time. Echoes of cheers for past Stanley Cup trophies can be heard if you listen very closely …. The TMU Bold men’s and women’s hockey team plays here, and they play to win!
