We are less than a week away from one of the most exciting weekends of the summer. This Canada Day will be marked by celebrations and festivities around the country, but perhaps at the top of the list for electronic music fans will be the weekend’s Electric Island concert and picnic.

Sunday July 1st will mark a very special show for Electric Island as they bring in some global house and techno music heavyweights to our doorstep. At the top of the bill will be The Martinez Brothers, Jackmaster and Anna.

If you are still unsure about checking out this weekend’s Electric Island show, we have curated three of our favourite mixes from this year’s headliners to get you in the mood.

Martinez Brothers – Live From Music On

This magical set taken from this year’s Music On Festival is trademark Martinez Brothers. Their selections are memorable, unique and packed full of energy. A staple of their sets is the seamless integration of deep cuts sprinkled with hip hop/urban acapellas. Highlighted in this set: a delightful SIA edit, a tasteful use of Migos’ ‘Bad and Boujee’ acapella and Marc Romboy’s delightful remix of Detroit Grand Pubah’s Club Sandwiches. Who says Tech House cannot be fun?

Jackmaster – Live From Digbeth Dining Club

Jackmaster flashes his versatility and soulful side in this gem of a set performed at Birmingham’s Digbeth Dining Club. For fans of old school house and disco anthems, this set brings the heat. It will surely make you feel at home dancing under the Canadian summer sun this weekend. Highlights include Axel Boman’s Abba 002, and Late Nite Tuff Guy’s ‘Do I Believe in God’, two wonderful cuts that bring a sultry disco vibe to the set and dares anyone on the dancefloor to not break a move.

ANNA – Live From CRSSD

The world of Techno would not be the same without Anna. Her astronomical rise in the scene over the past couple years is built on the reputation of stunning sets such as this masterpiece at CRSSD. The selections here are dark, energetic and pulsate steadily throughout. Anna shows that she has an unwavering commitment to the dance floor and commands her set as such. Highlights include Anna’s very own edit of WEHBBA’s Redemption and Ilario Alicante’s iconic Leave Me.

Whether you fancy Techno, Tech House or old fashioned House music, Electric Island will be THE place to be this weekend. Along with a plethora of other talent on display, the day will also be home to some of the city’s finest food trucks throughout the day. To learn more and get your tickets, visit electricisland.to!
