Press Release: Met Radio Doc Shop Season 1

13 March 2026 / by Met Radio

Met Radio is pleased to announce the release of season one of Met Radio Doc Shop, a radio and podcast series showcasing the work of first-time audio documentary makers. On March 16th, tune into Met Radio 1280 AM at 5:30pm to listen to the season’s debut broadcast; then, on March 17th, listen on demand on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or directly through the RSS feed link.

Produced by the participants in Met Radio’s Fall/Winter Audio Documentary Incubator workshop series, these evocative audio documentaries will take you on a journey from a tattoo shop in the prairies to Sankofa Square in downtown Toronto. You’ll get an intimate look into choir practices and house parties and fridge crispers across the city, and find yourself amongst the crowds at football watch parties and queer country shows. Each piece delivers a sound-rich snapshot of the people and places that make this city (and beyond) special, in twenty minutes or less.

This workshop program was made possible by the Community Radio Fund of Canada’s Radiometres grant, which enabled us to hire industry professionals to lead workshop sessions and provide honoraria to program participants. Through this program, we hoped to remove financial and logistical barriers that may typically be associated with this sort of program, and give our community members the opportunity to learn every facet of audio documentary production at an extremely high quality of instruction. We are pleased to be able to broadcast seven brand-new documentaries, many focusing on personal stories or hyper-local issues, as a result, with even more coming this spring! Season two is currently in development, with nine more participants taking part in the Winter/Spring Audio Documentary Workshop program.

Documentaries in season one of Met Radio Doc Shop were produced by Nicole Brabant, Ashley Kim, Ella Miller, Florian Montague, Ana Saplala, Rojhin Taebi, and Tushar Unadkat.
