Are you sitting on a brilliant idea for a radio story? Ever wanted to learn how to interview, edit, and mix, but not sure where to start?
From February 3rd to April 28th, Met Radio is running a free 12-week audio storytelling workshop, designed to teach new radio doc-makers the skills necessary to produce their own polished 10-to-15 minute audio documentary! We’ll focus on building your storytelling skills, technical proficiency, and confidence as a radio maker.
This program will consist of a mixture of workshop sessions facilitated by audio industry professionals, group work time, and one-on-one support provided by Met Radio staff. For a full overview of the curriculum, you can take a look here. No prior audio experience is required, and Met Radio will provide all necessary gear and training to produce your piece. This is a paid opportunity, and all participants who successfully complete the program will receive an honorarium of $500.
Workshops will take place every Tuesday evening at Met Radio from 6:30 – 8:30 pm, starting on February 3, 2026, and ending on April 28, 2026. We’ll have a one-week break towards the end of the program, with no session on April 7th. Transit passes will be provided to cover travel to and from the workshops. At three set intervals during the program, Met Radio staff will schedule one-on-one check-ins with all participants to discuss their progress and offer personalized support.
Due to the nature of the program, you will be expected to be available/able to attend all workshop sessions in person. Additionally, participants should expect to spend several hours per week outside of the scheduled workshops to work on their pieces.
