Calling all track mashers, party-maestros and double/triple/quadruple droppers, Met Radio, Toronto Metropolitan University’s Campus and Community radio station, is hiring for two positions to help us deliver an exciting DJ-focused workshop series, Turning the Tables: Bringing DJ skills to Met Radio and the Community. These workshops will be open to our volunteers and radio show hosts, and to members of the community. Following are the two jobs we will be hiring for, descriptions, and any special skills necessary for the positions. Please pay attention to the instructions for applying included at the bottom too!

1. Program Facilitator

Are you good at organizing events? Do you have experience DJing? We’re looking for someone who can chat the ins-and-outs about gear and techniques to design the workshops, assemble the team of presenters, then promote and execute it.

Duties

  • Confirm and book workshop presenters.
  • Determine necessary equipment purchases and rentals.
  • Work with staff and presenters to create documentation for the workshops, including handouts, slide decks, modules, and feedback forms.
  • Promote and run the workshop series.
  • Book and coordinate the After Party DJing event.
  • Divide responsibilities and delegate tasks to the Student Assistant Facilitator
  • Create training materials for training modules based on the workshops, that future staff and volunteers will be able to use.
  • Specialized skills for this position include: familiarity with the local DJ scene, experience DJing and using DJ equipment, experience in event planning and promotion, some management experience, some experience with graphic design, detail-oriented, excellent communication

Terms

This is a part-time paid position from September to February 28th, 2025, for up to 16 hours per week at a rate of $25.05 an hour. Parts of this job will need to be done in person (6-8 hours per week), but hours can be flexible based on event scheduling.

 

2. Student Assistant Facilitator

If you crossfade between student and DJ, we’re looking for someone to act as an assistant and provide support to the main Facilitator, while connecting with the TMU campus and surrounding community to promote the programs we’re working on.

Duties

  • Assist the Program Facilitator with the creation of materials.
  • Support the Program Facilitator in the coordination and delivery of the workshops.
  • Promote the workshops and events, and conduct on-campus outreach
  • Assist in organizing and throwing the After Party event.
  • Assist in creating the documentation and training materials to be used by future staff and volunteers.
  • Specialized skills for this position include: familiarity with DJing and DJ equipment, some experience in event planning and promotion, experience with graphic design, excellent communication
  • Preference will be given to students currently enrolled at TMU.

Terms

This is a part-time paid position from September to February 28th, 2025, for up to 12 hours per week at a rate of $20.00 an hour. Parts of this job will need to be done in person (6-8 hours per week), but hours can be flexible based on event scheduling.
