After more than a decade, an opening date for Eglinton Crosstown LRT is finally on the radar. Recent reports suggest a potential September opening for the highly anticipated Line 5— a midtown connection bridging Mississauga to Scarborough.
However, public transit advocates worry the new midtown connection could be held up again, this time at traffic lights. The infrastructure and environment committee will discuss traffic congestion at its upcoming meeting tomorrow, which includes a report on the expansion of the transit signal priority system.
Public transit leader and executive director of TTC Riders, a transit advocacy organization, Shelagh Pizey-Allen is calling on council members to give the Eglinton Crosstown LRT the green light.
