Private snow removal contractors under fire as progress stalls
Ten days after the back-to-back winter storms, Toronto is still snowed in. The city’s snow clearing and removal operations are under fire as some city councillor members’ report high call numbers from residents complaining they are still stuck in their homes.
Mayor Chow is says she is frustrated with how much snow remains on the city’s sidewalks after city officials told her sidewalks had been 100 per cent plowed. Meanwhile, Barbara Gray, the city’s general manager of transportation services, which handles snow clearing and sidewalk maintenance addressed these concerns and revealed next steps.
Mayor Chow ordered a formal review to improve snow plowing and removal policies and practices.
