New levy now in effect for construction which blocks city roads

Developers and utility companies will now be responsible for covering the municipal costs of the traffic disruptions they cause with a new congestion management levy beginning this week.

The levy will apply to any construction occupying expressways, all major or minor arterial roads, local streets and sidewalks, monitored by the Road Disruption Activity Reporting System (RoDARS). City staff say this is part of a larger initiative to mitigate traffic congestion and to streamline travel for all road users.

CJTM News has the latest on the city of Toronto’s Congestion Management Plan and why traffic in the city is still so terrible.
